4th Edition Avignon,
July 14–18, 2026

Always difficult to capture, in a single page, what this queer, feminist, inclusive, and activist program represents—or can represent—in Avignon, in the midst of the Festival IN and OFF.

A festival within the Festival? A platform for the visibility of the invited artists? A forum? A meeting point where local and international artists—often made invisible or underrepresented in our cultural and public spaces—can come together.

Or perhaps just another initiative destined for exhaustion and failure, at a time when resources dedicated to art and creative work continue to shrink, and spaces for expression and freedom grow ever more restricted.

Because beyond this so-called “queer trend” that some persist in denouncing—whether in good faith or bad—our rights and our voices remain under constant threat. Femicide, transphobia, homophobia, so-called pro-life movements, religious extremism, and radical ideologies, in Africa, the United States, and many other parts of the world, remind us every day that nothing can ever be taken for granted.

Programme .Q exists to give all these voices the opportunity to resonate throughout the Festival—with joy, with pride, and with unwavering determination. We are here neither to endure nor to suffer.

Like everyone else, we are an integral part of the celebration of creativity, culture, and citizenship in Avignon and beyond. We simply cannot stand still—our bodies and minds are constantly alive with energy and ideas. And this time, we are here, fully visible, to remind you of that.

Have a wonderful Festival IN and OFF! Enjoy Programme .Q!

QUEER TALK #2 Out on Stage

TALK

LA LIBRAIRIE .Q

As every year, Éditions de l’Arche and La Comédie Humaine in Avignon will once again host a pop-up bookstore at LaScierie on the evenings of July 15, 16, and 17, as part of their participation in Programme .Q.

The selection features books and authors exploring queer, feminist, activist, anti-TERF, and anti-misogynist perspectives. Novels, literary works, poetry, and essays addressing sexuality, relationships, identity, and diversity will be highlighted throughout the event.

Visit us at LaScierie from Wednesday, July 15, to Friday, July 17, between 7:30 pm and 9:00 pm.

EUROPE .Q

This year, 2026, with the support of the Franco-German Citizens’ Fund, we are welcoming queer artists from Berlin to Avignon for three days: Shlomi Wagner, Hadrien Daigneault-Roy & Sascha Cowan.

Our thanks go to the Berlin Performing Arts Market 2026, a project of the Berlin Performing Arts Program (LAFT Berlin e.V.), where we met these artists and began a conversation with them.

The idea behind the EUROPE .Q project is to create opportunities for these artists to meet other artists and professionals engaged in art, creation, and reflection on the queer issues shaping our democracies. Beyond the French and German contexts, new European and international dialogues and connections will emerge in 2027, 2028, and beyond!

Shlomi, Sascha, and Hadrien will be present on July 17 and 18 at the two QUEER TALKS events at the Village du OFF, as well as at other moments throughout our program on those two days.

They will also be there on the afternoon of July 16 and the morning of July 19 for more informal meetings and conversations.

GRAPHISME .Q

This year, the graphic design of our website was entrusted to the visual artist Adeildo Leite, who lives in Recife, Brazil.

For our upcoming editions, we will invite a visual artist each year to create an original graphic work specifically for the occasion.
